Day 15: Hoo-bloody-ray!
Days, weeks, months have come and gone without my Tuesday night team winning a game of 5-a-side football. Winning is not everyting. I really enjoy the running about but I was beginning to get very worried because I was the only thing in common on each occasion the team did not win. Each week the teams are changed. However tonight my team won. Emphatically. It felt glorious to finally break my...

Day 12: Early morning wacky race
If you were in Finsbury park this morning you would have seen me racing around pushing a 3-year-old in a buggy. You might have mistaken us for a wacky racer. Hector managed to cover 5km (3.12 miles) in 26 minutes and 54 seconds for the Parkrun event without breaking a sweat according to the RunKeeper app on my broken but still usable iPhone.

Day 11: Half Day Cycle
I left my bike at work the previous day so caught the tube to work (which a hate doing) and cycled home. Just realised that Runtastic automatically pauses the app when you are not moving thus making my times seem so great. I was wondering why all my best times occurred when using this app!!
Distance: 6.91 Miles Duration: 28 minutes 19 seconds iPhone App: Runtastic Max Speed: 24.43mph

Day 10: Smashed my iPhone
This morning, just as I finished my cycle to work, I dropped my iPhone attempting to stop the RunKeeper app. The realisation of dropping an iPhone on to a tarmac surface from a height is awful. Totally mortifed does not truly express how I felt. If only I could have reached for the Ctrl+z function (undo). My colleagues were very sympathetic and some even tried to comfort me with the suggestion it...

Day 9: The daily commute
Not quite this bad…
Journey to work
Distance: 11.26km Duration: 33 minutes 51 seconds iPhone App: AllSportGPS (Nice little free GPS app)
Journey back home
Distance: 6.92 miles Duration: 31 minutes 49 seconds iPhone App: Runkeeper

Day 8: Sound the vuvuzelas!
The World Cup is on the horizon and the excitement is mounting around the globe. However, tonight in Brixton another, lesser publicised, footballing spectacle took place. The event is known as ‘Tuesday Nights Five-a-side’ and pitted the reds against the blues in an intense battle for victory in humid conditions. The tension was visible. The red team fought hard, for whom I was...

Day 7: A return to work
Another 14 mile round trip to Southwark, another iPhone app tested. CycleTracks is an app created by the San Francisco Transport Authority for cyclists. Unfortunately the functionality was quite basic and does not compare with the Runtastic app which tracks more stats such as speed and altitude. So I used this on the way home recording another record time 27 minutes 49 seconds. Clocking a top...

Day 6: Swift Swim
A 10 minute half-kilometre swim is all I managed for Juneathon today. Unless I can include assisting H in his stunt antics.

Day 5: A family park run (with stunts)
The Prince Hills hit the park early this morning for a run about. Adele, Hector - in his running buggy - and myself went for a few circuits of our local park. It was just after 8am and the day was just warming up. There were a surprising amount of other runners about too. The Runtastic iPhone app told me Hector and I ran 2.9 miles in about 23 minutes. Adele ran a little extra.
Along the way the...

Day 4: To Work and Back Again
It was a sizzling 27°C in the city today. Fortunately it hadn’t quite hit those highs as a set out for work this morning. I was testing out yet another GPS app for my iPhone and this one was called Runtastic. Some very clever, considered features included in this app. I appreciated the 15 secs countdown to your session after clicking the start button which enabled me to get myself all set...
Day 3: The Cycle Home
Another journey and yet another app. BikeMate Lite informed me the journey home was 11km (6.84 miles) and lasted 35 minutes and some seconds. I didn’t think I was going that slow.
Generally I was not that impressed with the app. The GPS was inaccurate compared to the other apps and it held me to ransom. It didn’t allow me to save my data unless I upgraded to BikeMate Pro.

Day 3: Cycle to work
Slightly quicker this morning (I was a little late). iMapMyRide app says the distance was 7.14 miles and took me 32 minutes and 13 seconds.
I took some pics on route. One for Hector and view from Southwark bridge.

Day 2: The Cycle home
The cycle home was pleasant tonight even if I did feel little knackered after last nights footie exertions. According to a new iPhone app, called iMapMyRide, that I used to track my journey home it was slightly longer than this morning at 7.24 miles and took me 32 minutes and 34 seconds. You can view my stats here: http://www.mapmyride.com/view_workout?w=341127550047757722

Day 2: Cycle to work
Great day for cycling. Sunny but not too hot. My journey to work is 6.72 miles and took me 32 minutes and 45 seconds according to the RunKeeper app on my iPhone. Stats: http://rnkpr.com/a6b4rv

Day 1: Footie in Brixton
One hour of running around in the raining chasing a ball. Our team quickly conceded a 6 goal advantage and spent the rest of the game trying to catch up again. We managed to draw level with seconds to spare. The game finshed 12-12. I am not sure how far I ran but judging by my stiffness this morning it must have been a few kilometres.

I have committed myself to Juneathon!
Juneathon is a month-long commitment to activity. See the group here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=23081500873#!/group.php?gid=23081500873
My wife, Adele Prince, persuaded me to join in. She said it was not all about running so I’ll be doing a little cycling, football, swimming and running for the cause. Here goes. Starting with 5-a-side tonight.
